Winyah, the indie-rock rising South Carolina band, put on an incredible performance at their sold-out show at the iconic Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey. With an extremely successful tour so far and previously just opening for Mt. Joy earlier this month, Winyah has left a blazing trail of evidence towards their epic summer.

The moment the first song's notes rang out, you could feel the utmost spark from the audience. There was absolutely no doubt that this crowd would jump, scream, and put it all out back just as they received it. The atmosphere was overwhelmingly contagious; regardless of whether you were all the way up on the barricade or way in the back of the venue, the fans were entirely impacted.

Whether they just discovered Winyah that night, have been die-hard fans since the beginning, or even just rushed into the venue securing last-minute tickets, you could feel the liveliness of it. Every ounce of energy Winyah gave the crowd was comparable to the feeling of a hot summer drive with the windows down, singing with your friends till you willingly lose your voices.

Hearing some of their hit songs, such as “Feel It All Again” and “Lot To Learn," truly made it clear that Winyah is dedicated to being on repeat for your new summer playlist. The entire performance felt like I shared the room with people realizing in real time that Winyah is deservingly taking over. Those seeking a nostalgic, warm, and energetic sound will no doubt be adding Winyah into their rotation.

After such a successful set, it was clear to everyone in the room that Winyah is on its way to transforming the industry, one song at a time. For most, it wasn’t just a show—it was an experience worth queuing in the hot summer sun for, an experience that they would then carry home and keep close to them for years to come. When they claim, "It's a Winyah summer,” I believe it.
