Mt. Joy's 10-Year Anniversary Tour Stops in Phoenix for a Magical Night

Mt. Joy celebrated their 10-year anniversary tour with a stop in Phoenix on August 22 at the Arizona Financial Theatre. The Los Angeles-based indie folk band brought together longtime fans, including some who had already attended other stops on the tour, creating a crowd that clearly had a deep connection to the band and their music.

From the moment the music began, the atmosphere felt almost magical. With acoustic guitar, keys, and the band’s signature folk sound filling the theater, the performance felt much more intimate than the size of the venue suggested. Despite being inside a large auditorium, the crowd created an energy that made it feel like everyone was gathered in a much smaller, more personal space.

Early in the set, Mt. Joy performed a cover of Tom Petty’s “Mary Jane’s Last Dance,” immediately getting the entire audience involved. One of the funniest moments came when he shared a story about an ex-girlfriend and his struggle with anxiety. At the time, Quinn said he didn’t realize what he was experiencing was anxiety and instead thought he simply had an upset stomach. His girlfriend suggested he take MiraLAX—which, as Quinn pointed out, was pretty much the opposite of what he actually needed.

Moments like these helped make the anniversary show feel less like a standard concert and more like a celebration shared between the band and their fans. Mt. Joy’s combination of acoustic instrumentation, heartfelt storytelling, and an audience that knew every word made their 10th anniversary stop in Phoenix feel both expansive and deeply personal.
