Orlando & Atlanta-based pop-punk duo Meet Me at the Altar has just begun the second leg of their “Worried Sick Summer Tour” here in Phoenix, Arizona. The band could not be playing at a more iconic and fitting venue, The Rebel Lounge.

Originally known as the Mason Jar, The Rebel Lounge was founded in 1979 and has become a legendary alternative rock and indie venue in Midtown Phoenix. Bands such as Nirvana and Green Day have helped establish the modern-day Rebel Lounge to be the historic venue that it is today.

Needless to say, this venue has got some lore going on, and who better to add to that track record than Meet Me At The Altar?!

Meet Me At the Altar consists of drummer Ada Juarez and singer Edith Victoria. The band originally formed in 2015 when Ada was doing drum covers on YouTube and met one of the band’s former members. The duo soon held auditions for a singer, which is when Edith found the YouTube ad and auditioned for the role. Although Edith was not initially chosen, her persistence and commitment to joining Meet Me At the Altar paid off when she officially joined in 2017.

The duo has experienced some changes to their sound in the past nine years, but they remain a strong presence within the pop-punk-pop-rock scene. With influences from a variety of genres such as Bring Me the Horizon, Pierce the Veil, and Paramore, the duo has had the opportunity to explore the different sonics found within their discography.

Meet Me At the Altar released their debut album, Past//Present//Future, in 2023 with the vision of embodying the nostalgic vibe found within Disney rock and early 2000s tracks. Themes such as insecurity and honesty of one’s feelings seen within this album are prominent in their newer projects as well.

The duo’s Worried Sick EP released in January of 2025 provides listeners with insight into the changes the band underwent after the success of their first album. The tracks on this EP are written with sincerity and vulnerability as they tackle a rather relatable theme: change. Both Ada and Edith have expressed their experiences with the rapid and unpredictable change that occurs within their late twenties. To them, this project holds both anger and truthfulness and has supported them through their life changes as a sort of therapy.

The duo is currently on the road for their “Worried Sick Summer Tour”, which represents healing elements and a new chapter for the band. Meet Me At The Altar has transitioned from working with a major record label to more independence within the industry. Ada and Edith noted that there are both pros and cons to working with a major record label. They expressed their appreciation for the experience with the label and everything they have learned along the way.

Not only is the duo wrapping up their tour around the U.S, but they have also released two new tracks this summer, “Strung Out” and “Pain in my Chest.” Sonically, both songs embody the contagious and nostalgic pop-punk tones that leave listeners reminiscing for the era of the 2000s. Additionally, both tracks incorporate themes of navigating relationships and the honesty behind being vulnerable.

Not only does Meet Me At the Altar have relatable songs that make you want to get up and dance, dare I say mosh, but their live show presence and connection to fans are like no other.

The duo are joined by a guitarist, Emmy, and bassist, Kaylie, on the tour. There is something rather inspiring about an all-girl band, especially in this day and age. Witnessing the band’s connection with each other and with their fans was truly special. The Phoenix show in particular had a predominantly female crowd, and it was so powerful to see all the women and young girls connecting with one another in the crowd, singing and dancing together.
